John Wick

On the Television Critics Association winter 2018 press tour, Chris Albrecht, the CEO of Starz, announced the new series, titled The Continental. The show will take place in Los Angeles and give us insights into the mysterious Continental Hotel.

It’s unclear if John Wick (Keanu Reeves) will be the central character, although it has been suggested that we will have a new lead. Reeves will produce the series, however, and it is unlikely that he won’t show up in the series (a cameo in the manner of Hugh Jackman in X-Men: First Class would be great). IGN reports that Chris Collins (The Wire, The Man in the High Castle, Sons of Anarchy) will serve as the primary showrunner and writer, with the premiere episode directed by John Wick co-director and John Wick: Chapter 2 director Chad Stahelski.

The television show will craft more mythology surrounding the universe that the films have set-up. Because we won’t necessarily explore those neat quirks that the universe has to offer in John Wick: Chapter 3, an episodic television would allow audiences to immerse themselves into this world. Of course, there are many questions to be answered still: When does the film take place? When can we expect a release date?

I am curious to see how the show turns out, as I love the John Wick movies. It will also be interesting to see this world on the west coast; the films have a darker color scheme and I can’t help but ask how that will exactly translate to L.A.? Be sure to check out the final chapter in the series on May 17th, 2019. What are you most excited about? Are you concerned about a series? Let us know in the comments below!
