Ryan Reynolds, aka Deadpool, went on record at the beginning of the month saying that an X-Force movie would most likely be the next move after Deadpool 2, which releases this weekend. On the red carpet for the film on Monday, Reynolds shared a little insight into what we could expect.
“At this point I don’t want to think about it,” Reynolds said. “But down the road, I’m sure we’ll figure it out.”
Reynolds also talked about the possibility of having Deadpool team up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. He stated that his dream project would be for the two to share the screen together, but that it had been on the backburner for a long time. He claimed that it would ultimately be left for Jackman to decide if he wanted to pick up the claws one more time.
“Sadly, it’s Hugh Jackman that’s the skin-covered speed bump on the road to that sort of happiness,” Reynolds said.
The director of Deadpool 2 shared minor details on the current development of the X-Force movie currently in development. Drew Goddard (The Martian, Netflix’s Daredevil) is currently at the creative helm for the project; we know this will be incredible already.
“He [Goddard’s] a great writer and a great filmmaker and I think they’re trying to take these characters and develop this universe,” David Leitch said.
Deadpool’s comic creator, Rob Liefeld claimed that Deadpool 2 will only get fans more excited for more Deadpool and X-Force adventures. Early buzz for the film has lead to major box office predictions, with THR reporting that it could easily become the biggest opening weekend for an R-rated film here in the states. The review embargo lifted yesterday and the reaction has been positive, thus far. Go check out Deadpool 2 in theatres this weekend!
